Featuring solid brass hardware, the Atacama martingale collar is an elegant but tough accessory for the adventurous pup. Made from top quality materials and engineered in Britain, the Atacama collar is designed to last the test of time. If your pup likes to roll, simply hand or machine wash in warm water.
‘Which width should I order?’ If your collar is for a whippet puppy, the 1″ wide version is best suited for the tiniest ones, but once grown a bit and provided the neck is long enough the 1.5″ width will give your pup a wider load area when they pull on the lead. Please measure carefully the neck and the over-head size before ordering. We highly recommend cutting a piece of paper or fabric in the two widths and placing them on your puppy’s neck. That way you will be able to see straight away which width you prefer. Regrettably, once your collar is made, we are unable to exchange or take returns. As a guide the 1.5″ XS fits the majority of adult whippets.

The matching Atacama lead is 19mm wide x 110cm or 180cm long – in either a single colour or two-tone. All two-tone leads use the gold material on the inside except for the gold lead, which uses naples yellow on the inside (see picture).

Breeds given as a guide only. Because these collars slide on over the head, please measure your dog’s neck and head (including ears) before purchasing a collar. The sizes refers to the adjustment range of the collar, not the actual size of the collar. In order to reliably achieve this adjustment range, the actual size range is bigger than the stated size.
Unsure what a martingale collar is?
A martingale collar is a design that helps prevent a dog from slipping, or backing, out of their collar. They are often referred to as a sighthound, or whippet collar because they are best suited to breeds with a smaller head than their neck. When adjusted properly, a martingale collar contracts snugly to prevent escape when needed. If you are unsure whether our martingale collars are correct for your hound, please read our blog post here which explains in a little more detail what it is and how to use one.
How to measure for correct size:
Either use an existing buckle collar or form a loop from string or tape. Adjust it to find the size that slides comfortably over your hound’s head. Once on, check that it will slide off without hurting your hound’s ears. Now measure your hound’s neck at a mid point on the neck, or where you wish the collar to sit when in use. When you have these two measurements, compare them to the sizes in our size chart. The correct size is the one which covers both these measurements.
